But today our exclusive photos show Chloe Lattanzi has finally put her troubled past behind her.
The 26-year-old, who bears a striking resemblance to her mother, was spotted enjoying a romantic day at the beach with fiancé James Driskill.
And as she enjoyed the sun in a skimpy pink bikini it would seem that finally she beaten the body image demons that plagued her.
Looking happy, toned and comfortable in her own skin Chloe and James, 28, sunbathed before heading off to cool off in the ocean.
An onlooker said: 'Chloe looked amazing and not at all self-conscious in her bikini.
'At one point her and James could not stop laughing as they fed each other strawberries.
'They are clearly two people totally head-over-heels in love.
'Then James tried to lure Chloe into the ocean, but when she felt how cold it was she chickened out.'
It was back in 2007 that the once troubled singer – whose dad is actor Matt Lattanzi – admitted she was battling an eating disorder.
At the time she said: 'I've gone though an eating disorder.
'It's nothing to be ashamed of. I'm taking very good care of myself now, but I'm not going to be like "Oh I eat pizza every day!" And I'm honest about that.'
Of her daughter’s health battles, Grease legend Olivia added: 'You don't want to think anything could be wrong - that's not to say I wasn't frightened, nervous and anxious for her.'
'There was a time I was in denial about it, I have to admit that.'
But as she frolicked on the beach this week in California’s Marina Del Rey it was clear that her troubled times were firmly behind her.
As she plans her wedding to martial arts expert James, Chloe looked every inch the happy bride-to-be
